CHAPTER FOURTEEN

The doorbell ringing catches me off guard and I fall out of the downward dog. Pushing the hair that’s fallen out of my bun out of my face, I stand, walking toward the door. Dammit circles my legs barking up a storm.

“Calm down dude,” I chastise him as I glance through the peephole. I don’t recognize the kid, but I open the door anyway. “Can I help you?”

“Is your name Danica?” the kid asks.

“Yes.” I say hesitantly.

“I have one white chocolate mocha with whip cream and a piece of banana bread for you,” he says, handing me the drink and treat.

“I didn’t order anything.”

“A guy came into the coffee shop and asked for someone to deliver it to you.” He shrugs. “We don’t even deliver, but I guess he knows the owner or something.” He goes to turn but then stops. “Oh and this,” he says, pulling out a piece of paper out of his pocket, handing it to me. “Have a good day,” he calls over his shoulder as he walks away.

“Thanks,” I mutter under my breath. “Get back, Dammit,” I say as I shut the door.

Dammit rushes toward the back door, obviously wanting to go outside. I set everything on the counter before letting him out… slowly I approach the note and open it.

I hope you slept well. Have a great day.
